Program Overview
Name
Jordanian American Physicians Association Visiting Student Reception Program (JAPA-VSRP).
Pilot Program
The Visiting Student Reception Program will be implemented as a pilot program starting Dec 2023- June 2024 to encourage Jordanian American providers to host visiting students.
Program Evaluation
The continuation or termination of the program will depend on feedback received from participating students and physicians.
Eligibility and Requirements
Eligible Students
Only final year students from Jordanian Universities with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JAPA are eligible to apply, for now are University of Jordan, Jordan University of Science and Technology, and The Hashemite University.
Application Fee
Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of 50 USD to be considered for the program.
Institutional Requirements
Each visiting opportunity is subject to the requirements and regulations of the hosting institution. Applicants must comply with the policies and guidelines set forth by the hosting institution.
Letters of Recommendation
Evaluation Criteria
All participating attending physicians are willing to write letters of recommendation based on the student’s performance. The letters will reflect the student’s professionalism, knowledge, and skills. Providers may write letters categorized as good, excellent, or phenomenal.
Code of Professionalism
In the event of violating the code of professionalism during the visit, the leadership of the medical school will be informed and no LoR will be provided.
Observership Status
Students with observer status will be allowed to present themselves, demonstrate their knowledge, learn the healthcare system, and participate in available scholarly activities.
Amendments
These bylaws may be amended by a majority vote of the Jordanian American Physicians Association (JAPA) executive board, provided that the proposed amendments are communicated to all members of the board in advance.
Effective Date
These bylaws shall become effective immediately upon approval by the Jordanian American Physicians Association (JAPA) board.
Dissolution
In the event that the program is terminated, any remaining funds shall be utilized for charitable purposes as determined by the Jordanian American Physicians Association (JAPA) board.
Deadline
September 15, 2023
Note
JAPA will not assist in the logistics of the elective rotation beside helping securing the spot. Transportation, lodging, orientation in the hospital, meal accommodations are beyond the scope of JAPA mission in this project.
