Purpose

Purpose

JAPA Academy strives to become the best medical education online learning platform allowing JAPA educators worldwide to present their high-quality education through online and in-person courses. We aim to empower medical students and physicians around the world to achieve academic excellence through our affordable medical education.

We aim to build a flexible platform that allows medical trainees to benefit from expert-delivered teaching material at their own pace. We also aim to start JAPA Academy medical Journal, promote clinical and basic research education to Jordanian students and JAPA members around the world through courses, the annual JAPA medical conference, direct mentorship, and promote research collaboration.

    Research committee through Jordanian American Physicians Association

    Started by presenting random virtual research-related seminars and posting online research opportunities

    Hundreds of applicants applied to these research opportunities

    Showed the necessity to organize the efforts to help improve and promote medical research in Jordan

    The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the need for critical care medicine training in Jordan

  • 2021

    JAPA educators presented tens of virtual lectures targeting doctors in Jordan which was welcomed by healthcare leaders in the country

  • 2021

    JAPA vouched to help start critical care fellowship in Jordan and helped deliver a well-rounded critical care course targeting critical care fellows in Jordan

  • 2022

    The critical care course includes virtual didactics as well as online live journal clubs, bedside teaching sessions, bootcamps and direct one on one mentorship in critical care medicine

  • 2022

    Additionally, our involvement include consulting role in helping to write critical care policies and protocols

Goals

  • Building an innovative medical education online learning platform to empower JAPA educators to deliver well-designed high-quality medical education courses in different fields of medicine, nursing and supporting medical professions.

  • Recruiting medical Jordanian and non-Jordanian experts to deliver well-designed health-related online and in-person training courses.

  • Organizing research training webinars and workshops.

  • Organizing JAPA annual medical conference.

  • Starting JAPA Academy online journal to allow students and health care providers to publish their unique medical and medicine-related content.

  • Creating Arabic medical content to increase the medical awareness of the public and enrich the online Arabic medical content.

  • Promoting research collaboration between JAPA members and creating research opportunities for students, interns and fresh graduates.

  • Starting scholarship funds to help empower Jordanian medical researchers.

Critical Care Course

In this course, you will have full access to comprehensive self-learning modules covering bread and butter and advanced topics in critical care medicine. You will deep dive into intensive care-related fields such as pulmonary, infectious disease, cardiovascular, gastroenterology and hemato-oncology, renal and metabolic, surgical and obstetrical care, and neurocritical care medicine. More than 40 American boarded experts from different specialties present this course over 9 sections including over 54 modules. Expand your knowledge in each module with recorded lectures and reading material and test your knowledge with a short quiz at the end of each module.

Director of research and Education at JAPA

Bashar Alzghoul, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. He is also certified in critical care ultrasonography. In 2014, he received his medical degree with honors from the University of Jordan School of Medicine. His postdoctoral training includes a residency in internal medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he was awarded the Thomas & Andreoli of Excellence in Internal Medicine.

He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Florida. He has over 30 PubMed Indexed publications and > 40 conference presentations in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine. He received many awards for academic and research excellence.

Eman Al-Antary is a pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation specialist. She completed her medical degree from The University of Jordan in 2014 followed by intern year and a transitional pediatric residency year at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in 2016, during which she was also an investigator at both KHCC and Stem Cell Therapy Center. Thereafter, she joined Children’s Hospital of Michigan (CHM) for her pediatric residency and pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship training.

She is American Pediatric Board certified in 2019 and currently American pediatric Hematology/Oncology board eligible. She will be joining the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy team at CHM as a faculty member in August 2022. Her research interest is translational and clinical researches in her field of practice especially oncology and immunodeficiency.

Raad Z. Al-Muhaisen graduated medical school from the University of Jordan school of medicine in 2018. He is currently an Internal Medicine resident at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was a founder of the Bel-Arabi foundation which is a non-profit organization dedicated to translating and creating Arabic scientific content on the internet. He is interested to pursue a clinical career in cardiology.

Awni Shahait, MD is Trauma/ Surgical Care/ General Surgeon, currently at Wayne State University SOM / Detroit Medical Center, Detroit, Michigan. Area of interest: ECMO, Thoracic Trauma, Nutrition, Robotic/ Minimal invasive surgery.

He has > 30 peer-reviewed publications, >40 podium presentations. He is Resident and Associate Society representative at the Michigan Chapter American College of Surgeons. He received many awards on academic and research excellence.
